
Kathryn (Kate) Chamberlain is Chief Executive of the Independent Monitoring Authority for Citizen’s Rights Agreements, protecting the rights of EU citizens and families. As Chief Executive, Kate is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the IMA and for advising the Board on how IMA is delivering its core responsibilities.
Kate is an experienced Chief Executive, having spent 7 years as CEO at Healthcare Inspectorate Wales. She transformed the Welsh Inspectorate from an organisation with high staff attrition, undertaking 50 service visits (inspections) a year, to one with a stable workforce, undertaking 300 visits annually.
Previously Kate was the Welsh Government’s Chief Statistician and Head of Knowledge and Analytical Services.
Kate has experience of both Executive and Non-Executive roles in public authorities and has recently been appointed Chair of the Wales Audit Office. Her current and previous roles require a high degree of personal and public accountability. She has acted as an ambassador and spokesperson for organisations, providing s strong and credible public profile, increasing knowledge and awareness of their roles. Kate is experienced in building new arms length organisations and in turning around failing organisations.
Kate holds a BSc (Hons) in Statistics with Management Science Techniques and a PhD from the University of Cardiff, Wales. Kate’s particular knowledge of the use and application of statistical analysis in driving quality improvement will be of considerable benefit to the Commission going forward.
