Next year will see the introduction of new regulations supporting the Regulation of Care (Jersey) Law 2014. These law changes will introduce independent regulation of 10 services which are provided to children and young people in Jersey.
As an independent organisation the Jersey Care Commission will be responsible for undertaking the regulation and inspection of these services. The Commission has drafted ten sets of Standards. Each set of services will need to be able to demonstrate that they are meeting these Standards during their inspections. The draft Standards are being shared as part of a consultation process to allow Islanders the opportunity to feedback their views on them ahead of the formal introduction of the new Regulations.
We would welcome feedback from anyone about these Standards but, we are particularly interested to hear from those who receive and provide care in all of these settings. As this will be a new area of regulation, the purpose of the consultation is to ensure that the Standards are appropriate, fit for purpose and sufficiently robust.
Comments on any aspect of these standards are welcomed.
We've just launched our online directory of care services.
