Please find enclosed an updated version of the Personal Care and Clinical tasks guidelines. This has been produced by colleagues at Family Nursing and Home Care (FNHC) at the request of the Jersey Care Commission (the Commission). The document was sent out for consultation in February 2023, with final amendments agreed at the end of August. I would like to take this opportunity to thank FNHC for all of their hard work.
In July 2023 national guidelines for delegated healthcare activities was issued by the department of health and social care, and the Commission would advise all regulated services to familiarise themselves with these guidelines.
It is recognised by the Commission that the provision of regulated services is constantly evolving, and the new guidance aims to capture this, whilst ensuring that safe and effective practice is maintained.
The Commission will continue to ensure that the standards set for regulated activities are adhered to through the inspection process. There is an expectation from the Commission that providers will develop their own policy for the undertaking of clinical tasks including the delegation of tasks from health care professionals where appropriate. Where providers do not have their own policy, the Commission will expect that the enclosed guidelines, along with the national guidelines are adopted as best practice.
